The Elwick Racecourse, or the Luxbet Park, provides Racing events for the location of Glenorchy in Tasmania, Australia. Glenorchy is situated north of Hobart and is near the Brooker Highway. The most notable event at this track is the Hobart Cup which takes place annually in early February. The course is owned and managed by the Tasmanian Racing Club.
This track is an egg shape with a total of seven starting positions. Races can range from 800 metres up until 2400 metres, the distance of the Hobart Cup.
All races are anti-clockwise and it's a flat course.
This track can hold Racing of Thoroughbreds, Harness Racing and Greyhounds.
In 1874, the Elwick Racecourse was born out of Glenorchy, Tasmania.
Interestingly, the track contained a drive-in cinema during the 1980s, which attracted crowds to the Races as a result.
2004 was another key date in the history of this track as the Tasmanian Government redeveloped the venue to include a Harness and Greyhounds track.
The track has been named a few times in the time, such as Tattersall's Park, UBET Park and Luxbet Park.
