Situated in Kembla Grange, this track is the major Horse Racing venue for Wollongong, New South Wales.
It's known as a fantastic Racing venue offered in the southern region of the state and a popular day trip for Sydney residents.
The main event found at Kembla Grange is the Keith Nolan Classic held in March every year.
Over the Racing year, this track holds around 30 meetings with most of those races held on a Saturday and a few are run during the mid-week.
An interesting fact about this course is that the current design was constructed with Royal Randwick as the guide.
As a result, the Kembla Grange track is one that gives every runner an opportunity with its long home straight a feature of the track design.
As such, horses that finish strongly will enjoy racing at Kembla Grange.
The track is 2200 metres in circumference and 25 metres in width.
Originally, the Kembla Grange Racecourse was first opened in 1834, making it one of the oldest Horse Racing venues in all of Australia.
In fact, Royal Randwick hadn't even opened at this time! 1984 welcomed a full TAB service to the venue and they also included an upgrade of many facilities at the track.
Since 1976, the venue has been managed by the Illawarra Turf Club and they held their first racing meeting in December of 1976.
