Tauranga Racecourse

Tauranga Racecourse is situated on the North Island of New Zealand in the city of Tauranga.

Over the Racing season, the venue will hold 10 race meetings.

It is mainly a Horse Racing venue but it can also host Harness Racing.

Some of the best events held at this track include the Bayleys International Raceday in March as well as the Kiwifruit Cup Day in the middle of the year.

The track is managed by the Bay of Plenty Racing Club, which has established in 1873.

Tauranga Racecourse History

Racing at Tauranga Racecourse dates back to the first day in 1873 when races were held at the Government Paddock Course.

Later on that year, the Tauranga Jockey Club was formed and they held the initial race meeting at this track the very next year.

2006 marked a $400,000 revamp of the main Tauranga track.
