The premier Horse Racing venue in the ACT is Thoroughbred Park, which is located in the suburb of Lyneham.
It's situated north of Canberra and is right next to the Federal Highway.
The track is managed by the Canberra Racing Club, which offers 25 Race meetings per year.
Highlights on the schedule include Melbourne Cup Race Day and the Black Opal Stakes held in March.
During the Winter months, Racing at this venue is held on the synthetic track.
While in the other months, the grass track is used.
This track can hold races from 1000 metres until 2400 metres.
The history of the Canberra Cup can be traced back to 1926 when it was held on the old Acton Racecourse.
In recent times, Thoroughbred Park has been upgraded to provide Canberra with the very best facilities for watching the Races.
