2012 AFL Finals: Hawthorn Hawks vs. Sydney Swans
September 26, 2012 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the stage is set for the 117th AFL Grand Final as the Hawthorn Hawks face the Sydney Swans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Grand Final will start 2:30PM Australian time.

Last week, Hawthorn managed to hold on for a 5-point win against their Adelaide. It was a gutsy performance by the Hawks who was without their skipper Luke Hodge, who was out due to gastroenteritis.

This is the 15th time the Hawks have reached the Grand Final. They have 10 titles and have last won in 2008. This would be the first time in history that Hawthorn and Sydney will face each other in the Grand Final.

The Sydney Swans had an easy time against Collingwood Magpies. They beat Collingwood 96-70 and finally erased their seven years losing streak against them.

The win by Sydney earned their first trip to the Grand Final in six years. The Swans have appeared in seven Grand Finals but only won once against West Coast in 2005.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Hawthorn Hawks as a 14.5-point favorite to beat the Sydney Swans. The Swans do play better when their back is against the wall, this was evident when they beat Collingwood in their last game.
