2012 FedEx Cup Playoffs:The BarclaysAugust 22, 2012 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the Bethpage State Park will host the annual FedEx Cup playoffs at Farmingdale, New York. The top 125 golfers in FedEx Cup point standings will play in a 4-week golf tournament which will start with The Barclays.

The FedEx Cup is an annual PGA Tour playoff in which players earn points to qualify and participate in a four tournament event to earn a whopping $10 million bonus prize. A golfer will receive 2,500 points for a tournament won and whoever emerges on top after the four playoff tournament will receive the bonus prize along with a FedEx Cup trophy.

Tiger Woods currently leads the FedEx Cup point standings. He three three tournament victories this season and have the lowest scoring average on the PGA Tour. He may not have won any of the major tournaments this year but he is on his way to regain his place on top of the PGA Tour.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed World No. 1 Rory McIlroy as the favorite to win the Barclays. Tiger Woods, Luke Donald, Bubba Watson and Sergio Garcia are his main challengers for the tournament.
