2013 AFL Round 23: Sydney Swans vs. Hawthorn Hawks
August 28, 2013 by Marc Jerbs

On Friday, the Sydney Swans meets the Hawthorn Hawks in Round 23 of the Australian Football League. Game time is set at 7:50PM local time and will be held at the ANZ Stadium.

These two teams met at the 2012 Grand Final and the Swans emerged as the champion in a fiercely heated battle. This season, Hawthorn leads the AFL ladder with 18 wins against 3 losses for 72 points.

The Hawks could firmly hold the top spot and home field in the first round of the AFL Finals. Hawthorn eked out a 37-point win against Sydney in Round 7 this season. The Hawks do have the mental edge against the Swans this Friday.

The Sydney Swans' dip in forms could be contributed to its mounting injury toll in its players. Dan Hannebery will not play against Hawthorn as he suffered a knee injury in last week's loss to Geelong.

However, with their backs against the wall expect the rest of the Swans' player to step up their game against the Hawks. The Swans have won five of the last eight fixtures against the Hawks since 2010.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Hawthorn Hawks as a 11.5-point favorite beat the Sydney Swans on Friday night.
