2013 National Rugby League: Sydney Roosters vs.
South Sydney Rabbitohs
March 06, 2013 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the 2013 National Rugby League season formally opens at Allianz Stadium. The first game for Week 1 of the NRL will feature the Sydney Roosters against South Sydney Rabbitohs. Game time is set at 8:05PM AEDT.

Last season, both teams went on separate directions. The Rabbitohs reached the semi-finals and was just a win away for the NRL grand final. The Roosters was not that impressive as they finished the season in 13th place.

South Sydney has undergone a massive personnel change during the off-season. Former assistant Trent Robinson will be their new coach replacing Brian Smith. Seasoned players were added to the roster headed by Sonny Bill Williams, James Maloney, Luke O'Donnell and Michael Jennings.

The Roosters did not undergo any changes in their roster. Retaining all the key players was their main priority as they continue the giant strides they have left in the 2012 season.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the South Sydney Rabbitohs as a 4-point favorite to beat the Sydney Roosters in the opening game of the 2013 NRL season.
