2014 AFL Round 1: Geelong Cats vs. Adelaide Crows
March 19, 2014 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the 2014 Australian Football League formally opens with a Round 1 match featuring the Geelong Cats and Adelaide Crows. The Simonds Stadium in Victoria, Australia will host the game and will start at 7:10PM AEDT.

Former Geelong player James Podsiadly will now play with Adelaide. The Crows have not beaten the Cats at their home arena since 2003. Breaking the trend will be hard as Adelaide will play without key players Taylor Walker, Nathan Van Berlo, Richard Douglas and Tom Lynch due to injuries.

Geelong has won seven of the last eight games at Simonds Stadium. The Cats also have a depleted lineup with Billie Smedts, Allen Christensen, Steven Motlop and Nathan Vardy out with injuries as well.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Geelong Cats as the favorite to win against the Adelaide Crows on Thursday night.
