2015 Triple Crown: 141st Kentucky Derby

On Saturday, the historic Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky will host the 1st jewel in the 2015 Triple Crown, the 141st Kentucky Derby. This is a Grade 1 stakes race for three-year old thoroughbreds.

The 20-horse field in the Kentucky Derby will compose of the best thoroughbreds that that participated in a series of 35 qualification races across the United States and around the world.

Among the horses that qualified were Santa Anita Derby winner Dortmund, Arkansas Derby winner American Pharoah, Florida Derby winner Materiality, Sunland Derby winner Firing Line and Grade I Blue Grass winner Carpe Diem.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed American Pharoah as the favorite to win the 141st Kentucky Derby. Dortmund and Carpe Diem are among the possible challengers of American Pharoah.
