May 12, 2016 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Brisbane Racing Club will host the BTC Cup at Doomben Racecourse in Brisbane, Australia. The BTC Cup is a Group 1 race for three-year old and older thoroughbreds. It is a weight for age race and will run over a distance of 1200 meters.

Since being elevated to Group 1 status in 2006, the BTC Cup has won by notable sprinters such as Apache Cat and Black Caviar. A field of 14 sprinters will contest the BTC Cup and will feature a lot of promising thorougbreds.

Darley Classic winner Delectation will start at barrier 12. Delectation will race along with stablemate's Japonisme and Counterattack. Matt Dale-trained Fell Swoop drew barrier 10 which is not the best place to win a sprint race.

The horse race handicappers have installed Japonisme as the favorite to win the BTC Cup on Saturday noon. Fell Swoop, Malaguerra and Artlee are the three horses that could challenge Japonisme in the BTC Cup.
