2016 Formula One: Australian Grand Prix

On Sunday, the 2016 Formula One formally opens with its first race of the season, the Australian Grand Prix. The 58-lap race will cover a total race distance of 307.574 km of the fabled Albert Park.

Each lap will have a distance of 5.303 km and 7-time champion Michael Schumacher holds the fastest lap record of 1 minute and 24.125 seconds which he registered in 2004. The first Australian Grand Prix was held in 1996.

Mercedes is the marked race team this season as they prepare to defend their Constructor's and drivers' championship against an improved competitors led by Ferrari, McLaren and Renault.

Reigning champion Lewis Hamilton will seek his 4th driver's title and will try as the fourth man to win three consecutive titles. Mercedes has shown that their new Mercedes F1 W07 race car is a force to reckon with this season.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Lewis Hamilton as the favorite to win the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Teammate Nico Rosberg and Ferrari's Sebatian Vettel are among his strongest challengers.
