2016 Melbourne Spring Carnival: BMW Caulfield Cup

On Saturday, the Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia will host the BMW Caulfield Cup. It is a Group 1 race for thoroughbreds aged three years old and above and will cover a total race distance of 2400 meters.

The total prize money for the race is a whopping A$3 million with the race winner taking A$1.75 million. It will test the grit, endurance and robustness during the race. The race winner will also be given a direct entry into the Melbourne Cup.

A total of 19 horses are confirmed to run in the Caulfield Cup with racehorse Fanatic scratched for weekend race. Naturalism Stakes winner Jameka will start Barrier 13 as announced by trainer Ciaron Maher. 2015 Victoria Derby winner Tarzino got Barrier 4.

The horse race handicappers have installed Jameka as the horse to beat on Saturday's BMW Caulfield Cup.
