Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival: 2016 Manikato Stakes

On Friday, the Moonee Valley Racing Club in Melbourne, Australia will host the Manikato Stakes as part of the Melbourne Racing Spring Carnival. The Manikato Stakes is a Group 1 race for horses aged three years and older, run under weight for age conditions and will cover a race distance of 1200 metres.

A field of 11 has been declared to compete in this Group 1 sprint race. Every horse participants have won at elite level except for Feel Swoop.

Defending champion Chautauqua will face strong opposition from Golden Slipper race winner Capitalist as well as 2013 Manikato Stakes race winner Buffering, New Market Handicap winner The Quarterback and Stradbroke Handicap winner Under The Louvre.

The horse race handicapper have installed Chautauqua as the race favorite to win the Manikato Stake for the 2nd year in a row. Capitalist, English, Buffering and Lucky Hussler are the possible threat to Chautauqua's bid for a back-to-back race win.
