Queensland Racing Carnival: 2016 Queensland Oaks
June 09, 2016 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Brisbane Racing Club will host the Queensland Oaks at the Eagle Farm Racecourse in Brisbane, Australia. The Group 1 race is for three-year old fillies with set weight of 56½ kg and will cover a total race distance of 2400 meters.

The Queensland Oaks was supposed to take place on the 4th of June but due to bad weather conditions the race was move on June 11. The total prize money for the race is set at A$500,000.

The race attracted 22 fillies until Beluga Blue was scratched by trainer Leon McDonald. The filly sustained a laceration to the off hind leg after an incident in Beluga Blue's stable. The horses to watch for in the race are Provocative, Romantic Maid, Falkenberg, Imposing Lass and Dawnie Perfect.

The horse race handicappers both installed Imposing Lass and Falkenberg as favorites to win the Queensland Oaks. A dead heat in the race is next to impossible as both horses would be guided by their respective jockey for a decisive win.
