On July 2, the 103rd edition of the Tour de France, officially kicked off at Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, France. The 3,535 km long race will end on July 24 with the Champs-Elysees stage in Paris, France.

Wednesday's 216 km Stage 5 from Limoges to Le Lioran became a sort of confirmation for 31-year old Belgian and BMC rider Greg van Avermaet as he won the stage to take the yellow jersey and has a big lead over the race favorites.

Defending champion Chris Froome is now 5 minutes and 17 seconds behind Greg van Avermaet in the standings. Chris Froome finished in a group alongside chief rival Nairo Quintana.

The biggest mountain stages is still a few days away and that stages would be the days when the contenders will show their strength with each other. The sportsbook handicapper have installed Chris Froome as the favorite to win the 103rd edition of the Tour the France. Nairo Quintana, Fabio Auru and Tejay van Garderen are his strongest challengers in the three-week race.
