2017 Derby Day: AAMI Victoria Derby
November 02, 2017 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne Australia will host the AAMI Victoria Derby. The AAMI Victoria Derby is a Group 1 race for three-year olds under set weight conditions. This race will cover a total race distance of 2,500 meters of the turf-surfaced racecourse.

This year's race will be a male-only affair which is not unusual. Most derbies over the world are usually 2400m but the AAMI Victoria Derby increased it by 100m more. This increase in length will test the agility and stamina of horses and their respective jockeys.

The AAMI Victoria Derby is the 7th race of the day and will have a post time of 3:50PM local time. The 16-horse field will be close to each other in the opening half but this field will thin out in the long home straight. Ace High is high on the radar with impressive win in the spring season and all came out a winner in Rosehill and Randwick. Chris Waller-trained Tangled will also compete as well as Geelong Classic winner Weather With You.

The horse race handicappers have installed Ace High as the horse to beat on Saturday's AAMI Victory Derby.
