2017 Perth Racing Carnival: Railway Stakes November 23, 2017 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Ascot Racecourse in Perth, Western Australia will host the Railway Stakes as part of the 2017 Perth Racing Carnival. It is a Group 1 handicap race that will cover a total race distance of 1600 meters. Total prize money for this race is A$1 million.

A full field of 16 horses have confirmed its participation in the race. Multiple Group 1 winner Black Heart Bar will be joined by stablemate Ulmann. They will be match up against Chris Waller-trained Tom Melbourne and All Our Roads. The race will also include Supply and Demand, Observational and Sovereign Nation.

Defending champion and local galloper Scales of Justice will try to win back-to-back Railway Stakes and will be ridden again by multiple jockey champion Douglas Whyte. Two-time Railway Stakes winner jockey Craig Williams will be on top of All Our Roads while Damien Oliver will ride Tom Melbourne.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Tom Melbourne as the odds on favorite to win Saturday's Railway Stakes.
