2017 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival: Canterbury Stakes

On Saturday, the Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, Australia will host the annual Canterbury Stakes as part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. The Canterbury Stakes is a Group 1 race for thoroughbred horses aged three years old and older. It is a weight for age race that will cover a total race distance of 1300 meters.

This race will provide racing fans their first glance to the elite sprinter horses fight it out for a Group 1 race win. A lion's share of the total race prize awaits the winner and also gains an exemption for the George Ryder Stakes.

The 8-field horse race will feature TJ Smith Stakes winner Chautauqua. He has been out of the winner's circle for a while now. However, the small field suits his racing style and he's expected to sprint faster to around his challengers.

The horse race handicappers have installed Chautauqua as the horse to beat on Saturday's Canterbury Stakes. Music Magnate and Le Romain are two elite sprinters that could challenge Chautauqua.
