Caulfield Race Carnival: Caulfield Cup October 18, 2018 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia will host the Caulfield Cup. The Caulfield Cup is a Group 1 handicap race without age and gender restrictions. This race will feature homegrown thoroughbreds as well as horses from Ireland, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, France and USA.

The 18-horse race will test the stamina and speed as the horses cover a total race distance of 2400 meters. Total prize money at stake is set at A$5million. Four horses emerged as a contender on this race.

Homesman set the pace and weakened in his last start at the Caulfield Stakes. But this horse will be right in the mix with a 6kg weight drop from his last start.

Youngstar who challenged Winx in their duel at the Turnbull Stakes and follow it up with Queensland Oaks win is prime for a good run at the Caulfield Cup. Kings Will Dream has excelled well in his Australian runs leading up to this race and has a huge chance to drop weight under handicap conditions.

JRA Cup winner The Taj Mahal is also in the mix on this race. This horse may be the pace the race and has the strength to compete in the homestretch.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Kings Will Dream as the favorite to win the Caulfield Cup on Saturday noon.
