Sydney Autumn Carnival: Coolmore Classic
March 10, 2016 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney, Australia will host the Coolmore Classic. The Coolmore Classic is a Group 1 horse race for fillies and mares aged three-year olds and up under set weights conditions. The race will cover a total distance of 1500 meters.

The first Coolmore Classic was won by Miss Personality in 1975. The late trainer Max Lees won five times with horses Satin Sand, Quicksilver Cindy, Flitter, Chlorophyll and Shindig. Only one horse won the race two times, champion Sunline did it in 2000 and 2002.

John O'Shea's undefeated filly Ghisoni will have her acid test taking on older and elite field of 12 horses. Ghisoni is undefeated in three career races and has won this year's Surround Stakes.

The horse race handicappers have installed Ghisoni as the favorite to win her 4th straight race and Coolmore Classic. Azkadellia and Solicit are among her strongest challengers in the race.
