2024 AFC Wild Card Playoffs - Miami vs. Kansas City: Can the Chiefs continue their quest for back-to-back titles? January 11, 2024 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins will travel to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to face the defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs in the 2024 AFC Wild Card Playoffs. Kick-off is set 8:00PM ET.

Injuries have hampered the Miami Dolphins during the last stretch of the regular season. Their pash rush defense was badly hit with injuries to Bradley Chubb, Jerome Baker, Andrew Van Ginkel and Jaelan Phillips. Coach Mike McDaniel believes that his team will still play despite their depleted lineup. There are players who could fill up the void and are ready for this elimination game.

The Kansas City Chiefs had the luxury to rest up their starter in Week 18 after they secured the AFC West. Most of their starters are well-rest and eager to play this weekend. The Chiefs started the season on fire but have slowed down in the last four weeks. Their key issue this season was their pass catchers have dropped a total of 40 passes which is the second-most in the NFL.

Sports Bet Odds

The Chiefs are the favorites to win the game. Here are our latest odds:

  • The Chiefs are favored by 4.5 points, with a money line of -220.
  • The Jets are the underdogs by 4.5 points, with a money line of +190.
  • The over/under is set at 43.5 points, with the over at -110 and the under at -110.

The duo of QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill are the main reason why the Miami Dolphins has the No. 1 offense by yardage. Both players have connected consistently to spearhead Miami's offense this season. WR Tyreek Hill will play against his former team and he expects the Chiefs to put a bull's eye on him the whole game.

The Chiefs will bring its second-best scoring defense to the postseason. They limit their opponents scoring to 17.3 points per game. Chris Jones and George Karlaftis are their top two pass-rushers that have hounded opposing quarterback for a sack or throw an interception. Both players are healthy and this could pose a major problem for Miami's offensive line.

Both teams have opposing strengths, it will be offense versus defense. The Kansas City Chiefs has the slight edge since they have homefield advantage and has the experience for this kind of pressure pack game. If the Miami Dolphin does not get rattled, there's a possibility to score an upset and eliminate defending Super Bowl champions.
