2010 World Cup:
Second Round PreviewJune 22, 2010 by Marc Jerbs

As the group stage draws to a close on June 25, the top two teams on each group advances to the second round of the 2010 World Cup. Sixteen teams could qualify for the next phase until it is trimmed down to the top 2 for 2010 World Cup Final on July 11.

The sixteen teams that could possibly qualify for the second round are Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, South Korea, Slovenia, United States, Ghana, Germany, Netherland, Japan, Paraguay, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Chile and Spain. However, this could still change since each team has still a game left in their schedule.

The group stage featured a lot of upsets and internal bickering between players of defeated teams. Playing for your country put a lot more stress and pressure for their national team to perform well in the grandest stage of world soccer. Teams that showed lackluster performances are France and England.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Brazil and Spain to win the 2010 World Cup. However, only one of them would emerge as the victor. Yet, Argentina might pull off a surprise with soccer hero and coach Diego Maradona orchestrating his young warriors each game.
