2011 College Basketball:Let the Madness BeginMarch 15, 2009 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, UNC-Asheville Bulldogs and Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans formally opens the NCAA "March Madness" Tournament in Dayton, OH. The 1st round game officially starts at 6:30PM ET.

With an expanded field of 68 teams that can qualify for the tournament, the commonly called play-in game has now 4 matches scheduled. With only 4 slots left, schools like UTSA, Alabama St., UAB, Clemson, USC, VCU, UNC-Ashville and UALR will fight out the last remaining slot. So expect these games to generate a lot of buzz as each team tries to secure the last 4 remaining slots.

Last Sunday, the top seeds for each bracket were announced for this year's tournament. Ohio State sits atop at the East; Kansas controls the Southwest, Pittsburgh leads Southeast while defending champion Duke is seeded No.1 in the West. Being number 1 in each bracket is not an easy task; every team has a chance to upset a No. 1 seed. Each bracket may have a "Cinderella" team that could disrupt the title aspirations of the top 4 teams.

The sports book handicappers have installed UNC-Asheville Bulldogs as a 3.5-point favorite to beat the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans. While the Ohio State Buckeyes were favored as the last team standing at the National Championship in Houston, TX.
