2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:Irwin Tools Night RaceAugust 17, 2010 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday night, the Bristol Motor Speedway will host the Irwin Tools Night race at Bristol, TN. The Bristol Motor Speedway is an oval-shaped track that consists of 36 degrees turns and 16 degrees straightaway. It also boasts a 160,000 seating capacity, well enough to hold the diehard NASCAR fans.

Last week, Kevin Harvick earned his third victory of the season and scored his first career win at Michigan International Speedway. His win at Carfax 400 enabled Harvick to punch his ticket at the "Chase for the Cup", the postseason version of NASCAR. Only the top 12 drivers will qualify for the "Chase", with only 3 qualify race left, a lot of jostling and heated argument will surely develop during each race.

The current top 11 drivers that have the possibility to join Kevin Harvick at the "Chase" are: Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Jeff Burton, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Greg Bifle and Clint Bowyer. However, 12th place Clint Bowyer has only a slim 35 point lead over 13th place Mark Martin. He's still in a precarious situation; along those who still have a chance to qualify are Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt Jr., David Reutimann and Juan Montoya.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed both Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch as the favorites to win the Irwin Tools Night Race. Both of this drivers are performing well this race season, it's too close to call who will emerge as the winner between the two.
