2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:5-Hour Energy 500June 08, 2011 by Marc Jerbs

On Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series moves to Pennsylvania for the 5-Hour Energy 500. The race will be held at the 2.5-mile tri-oval Pocono Raceway. Race time is set at 1PM ET.

For two consecutive weeks, victory was within his sight but Dale Earnhardt Jr., was again denied at the finish line. Brad Keselowksi edged out Junior in another fuel consumption contest. Dale Jr. was not able to push his race car further since his fuel is running low again but this time he managed to conserve it to finish at right behind Keselowski.

It's another close call for Junior and his team as they patiently waits for his chance to win a race this season and end his career long winless streak. Crew chief Steve Letarte knows that Junior's time will come soon as the season progresses.

Carl Edwards still leads the driver's standings with 485 points. Jimmie Johnson sits at 2nd place with 444 while Dale Earnhardt Jr., climbed to 3rd place with 443 points. The other notable drivers in the standing are: Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer and Ryan Newman.

The sports book handicappers have installed Denny Hamlin as the favorite to win the 5-Hour Energy 500 race this Sunday afternoon. Expect Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson as his main challengers on this race.
