2011 NBA Season:LA Lakers vs. Atlanta HawksMarch 08, 2009 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the two-time defending champion LA Lakers faces the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. Game time is set at 7PM ET.

After the All-Star break, the Lakers have found their swagger back and are slowly disposing every team in their schedule. Seven consecutive wins have put the Lakers back on track for their "three-peat" title aspirations. They started to play more cohesively and have intensified their defense which was too tough for their opponents to break.

Their latest victim was the league-leading San Antonio Spurs. They shackled Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker which led to a 99-83 win at the Spurs' home court.

The Atlanta Hawks started their 10 out of 11 games at home on a good note. They won over the Bulls but loss against the Knick and Thunder. Both losses were a result of the Hawks turnovers and inability to stop and read the opponent's offense. For them to have a chance to upset the Lakers at home, they need to handle the ball very well and disrupt the Lakers' offense.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the LA Lakers as a 4.5-point favorite to beat the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks may have a chance on this game if the Lakers will have a letdown after an overwhelming against the Spurs.
