2011 NBA West Matchup:
Utah Jazz vs. Phoenix SunsFebruary 15, 2011 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the Phoenix Suns hosts the Utah Jazz at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ. These two Western Conference teams are trying to secure a place in the Western Conference playoff race.

Last week, the Utah Jazz went down against the visiting Phoenix Suns after they blew a double-digit half time lead. It was their first game under new coach Tyrone Corbin who replaced long-time head coach Jerry Sloan.

Things were looked good in the first half for the Jazz and were primed to get the 1st win for Coach Tyrone Corbin. But the Jazz players were cleary gassed up physically and emotionally drained due to the abrupt resignation of Jerry Sloan. They do have three days to regroup and reassess their team before they travel to Phoenix.

The Phoenix Suns are fighting for survival in the Western Conference. They are currently in 10th place and must leapfrog Memphis and Utah to gain a spot in the playoffs. The Suns would be hard pressed to win their last 30 games in the season. They could still put it through as long as Steve Nash and company work more efficiently with their defense and offense.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Utah Jazz as the favorites to beat the Phoenix Suns. However, if the Jazz has not recovered with the sudden departure of ex-coach Jerry Sloan, the Suns could beat them again.
