2012 Barclays Premier League:Manchester United v Wigan Athletic
September 12, 2012 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, Manchester United will host Wigan Athletic in an English Premier League fixture at the Old Trafford. Game time is set at 14:00 GMT.

Manchester United started of the season on a wrong foot as they suffered a 1-nil loss against Everton. However, they quickly rebounded with two consecutive wins against Fulham and Southampton. The Red Devils would miss the services of Wayne Rooney after he sustained a nasty cut in his legs in their last game against Southampton.

Recent transferee Robin Van Persie must now elevate his game further will his striker partner Rooney is out for a month. Van Persie leads the Premier League with 4 goals which is a good sign for the Red Devils.

Wigan Athletic will have their hands full against Manchester United. If they contain Robin Van Persie's touches and shots on goal, they may have a chance to score an upset or settle the fixture to a draw. The Latics started the season with a win against Southampton. However, they were defeated by Chelsea in their next fixture and were held to a 2-2 draw by Stoke City in their last game.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Manchester United as the favorite to win over Wigan Athletic this Saturday afternoon. It will be a good game between two teams who are slowly regaining their form and consistency.
