2012 NBA Season Matchup:San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami HeatJanuary 17, 2012 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs visit the Miami Heat at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, FL. This East vs. West team matchup will tip-off at 7:30PM ET.

The Miami Heat will open its 5-game home stand without their All-Star SG Dwayne Wade. He's out indefinitely as he recuperates from a sprained ankle he suffered in their last game against the Nuggets.

The Heat would like to stop their 3-game losing streak which pegged their record to 8-4 in the Southeast division. While Wade is out, expect Lebron James and Chris Bosh to carry the Heat in their 5-game home stand. There is a possibility that Coach Erik Spoelstra would ask Lebron to revert his offensive and playmaking repertoire during his Cleveland days.

The San Antonio Spurs are playing very well in their home court this season. On the road, it's a different story. They have not notched a single win in their last four road games. It would be nice on their part to win against the Heat to break their road game woes.

With SG Manu Ginobili out of the lineup, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan are carrying Spurs every game. However, Richard Jefferson and DeJuan Blair must still contribute as both Parker and Duncan could not play beyond 40 minutes per game.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Miami Heat as a 7-point favorite to beat the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night. The Spurs may have a chance for an upset win if they manage to contain Lebron James for 48-minutes.
