On Friday, the top collegiate basketball teams formally open the 2013-14 season with a series of intriguing match ups. Defending champion Louisville Cardinals will try to earn a rare back-to-back national title.

Early season favorite and No. 1 ranked Kentucky will feature a bevy of highly rated freshmen that they got during the offseason. Defending champion Louisville has a new conference but they are still a force to reckon with.

Consistent national title contender Duke will feature freshman Jabari Parker who will play alongside seniors and sophomore teammates. Meanwhile, Kansas will feature Andrew Wiggins and Arizona will have Aaron Gordon.

Top ranked Kentucky will open their season at home against UNC-Asheville at 7PM ET. Second-ranked Michigan and fourth-ranked Duke will also have season home openers. Michigan will face McNeese State while Duke will host Davidson.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Kentucky Wildcats as the favorite to win the 2013-14 National Championship title. Kansas, Louisville, Duke and Michigan State are among their worthy challengers for the title.
