2014 World Series Game 1:Kansas City Royals vs.
San Francisco GiantsOctober 21, 2014 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Royals will host the San Francisco Giants in Game 1 of the 2014 World Series. The Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri will be the place for the first two games of the World Series. Game time is set at 8:07PM ET.

Kansas City have been given 5 rest days after getting 8 straight wins in the AL Division and Championship series. The Royals last venture at the World Series was in 1985, they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3.

The Kansas City Royals were the most successful expansion team when they won their first World Series title. From 1976 to 1985, they won 6 division titles, two pennants and became world champions.

The San Francisco Giants have also earned a well deserved 4-day break after their NLCS win over St. Louis Cardinals. The Giants will try for their third World Series title in five years.

Long layoffs tend to extinguish the momentum and fire earned by a team after they qualified for the World Series. Rust may be a factor for Game 1. Whoever shakes it off in the game will have the chance to get the win.

Madison Bumgarner will pitch for the San Francisco Giants while the Kansas City Royals will counter with James Shields. The sportsbook handicappers have installed the San Francisco Giants as the slight favorite to beat the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.
