June 16, 2016 by Marc Jerbs

On Friday, the Ascot Racecourse in Ascot, England will host the Commonwealth Cup. The Commonwealth Cup is a Group 1 horse race open to horses aged three years old and geldings are allowed to race as well.

It is the first age restricted Group 1 race open for geldings to race in Europe. This race is part of Royal Ascot event and it is the 3rd race of the day due to start at 3:40PM local time.

Twelve horses are slated to run the race. Air Force Blue and Acapulco were the notable absentees from the final race participants of the Commonwealth Cup. Air Force Blue was replaced by stable mates Waterloo Bridge and Washingon DC. Acapulco was pulled out by trainer Wesley Ward due to the soft ground of the Ascot Racecourse.

With the absence of Acapulco, the horse race handicappers have installed Quiet Reflection as the favorite to win the Commonwealth Cup. Quite Reflection has won four consecutive sprint stakes including the Sandy Lane Stakes and Prix Sigy.
