2017 Cheltenham Festival:Cheltenham Gold Cup
March 16, 2017 by Marc Jerbs

On Friday, the Cheltenham Racecourse in Cheltenham, England will host the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the penultimate race of the 4-day Cheltenham Festival held every March. Race time is set at 3:30PM GMT.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Group 1 National Hunt race that will cover a total race distance of 3 miles and 2½ furlongs with 22 fences to be jumped. The steeplechase race is open for horses aged five years and older.

Fourteen horses have declared their participation in the race. Stablemates Cue Card and Native River will spearhead the race card. Cue Card will try to bounce back from a nasty fall in last year's Cheltenham Gold Cup that cost him the win.

Native River has enjoyed a fantastic season winning The Hennessy, Welsh Grand National and Denman Chase. Don Poli is also a horse to watch, he finished in 3rd place in last year's race.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Cue Card as the slim favorite to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday. Djakadam and Native River are among the Cue Card's strongest challengers.
