2021 US Triple Crown: 146th Preakness Stakes May 14, 2020 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the second jewel of the US Triple Crown race, the Preakness Stakes, will be held at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.

It is the 146th edition of the race and will cover a total race distance of 1 3/16 miles of the dirt-surfaced racetrack.

The Preakness Stakes will have 10-horse field led by recent Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit.

Medina Spirit was allowed to race in the Preakness Stakes after testing positive for banned substance.

An inquiry was held to determine the cause of the positive test.

Medina Spirit was allowed to race with additional testing protocol for the Preakness Stakes.

Looming as Medina Spirit's toughest challenger is his stablemate Concert Tour.

This horse has the raw talent to challenge Medina Spirit and has the fresher legs.

Concert Tour could be a major stumbling block for Medina Spirit's triple crown aspirations.

The other notable horses that will run in the Preakness Stakes are:

  • Keepmeinmind
  • Midnight Bourbon
  • Crowded Trader
  • Rombauer
  • Ram
  • Risk Tasking
  • France Go de Ina
  • Unbridled Honor

Post time is set 6:52PM EDT.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Medina Spirit as the horse to beat on Saturday's Preakness Stakes at the Pimlico Race Course.
