Adelaide's Autumn Racing Carnival: 2020 The Goodwood May 14, 2020 by Marc Jerbs

On Saturday, the South Australian Jockey Club will host the final leg of its Autumn Racing Carnival.

The last leg will showcase the featured race, the Goodwood. The Goodwood is a Group 1 race for three years old and older, run at set weight plus penalties.

The race will cover a total race distance of 1200 meters of the turf-surfaced Morphettville Racecourse.

The total prize pool is pegged at A$400,000 with the race winner taking in A$256,000.

Post time is set at 4:25PM AEST. The Goodwood has attracted 15 of the finest sprinters in Australia and it will be an interesting race for the day.

Local sprinter Gytrash has chance to win another Group 1 race after winning the Lightning Stakes.

His barrier position is not ideal but jockey Jason Holder will position him within striking distance and pounce the opportunity to close out in the final stretch.

Gytrash will be heavily challenged by 5-time Group 1 winner Santa Ana Lane, Stradbroke winner Trekking, and last year's runner-up Behemoth. The sportsbook handicappers have installed Gytrash as the horse to beat on Saturday's The Goodwood at the Morphettville Racecourse.
