NBA West Matchup:
San Antonio Spurs vs.
Los Angeles LakersApril 12, 2011 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the defending champion LA Lakers will host the final regular season match against the San Antonio Spurs at the STAPLES Center. Game time is set at 10:30PM ET. The Spurs holds a 2-1 regular season series lead over the Lakers.

The Lakers have won 17 of 18 games since the All-Star break. They got momentum on their side and had emerged as a Western Conference favorite during this streak. However, five straight defeats against Denver, Utah, Golden State, Portland and Oklahoma City have sent the Lakers scrambling to find their mojos back as the playoff season is set to begin on April 16.

Coach Phil Jackson is not happy at all with the performance of the whole Lakers team. He and Kobe Bryant wanted to finish the regular season on a winning note as they prepare for their quest for a three-peat championship. A win against the NBA-best San Antonio Spurs would definitely regain their swagger back.

The San Antonio Spurs also went on a six-game tailspin when Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili missed games due to injuries. They managed to end their losing streak and backed it up with a 4-game winning streak. The Spurs need two more wins to guarantee a home court advantage throughout the postseason. The Bulls are next behind them with the 2nd best overall record.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the LA Lakers as a 6.5-point favorite to defeat the San Antonio Spurs and eventually end their losing streak. The Spurs may not bow down easily since they are all in to secure the home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
