2015 PGA Major Tournament:The Open Championship
July 15, 2014 by Marc Jerbs

The PGA Tour goes to the Old Course at St. Andrews Golf Club in Fife, Scotland for the 3rd Major tournament of the season, The Open Championship.

The 144th Open Championship will be held from July 16 up to July 19. St. Andrews Golf Club will host golf's oldest championship for the 29th time. Defending champion Rory McIlroy will not participate due to a ruptured ankle ligament injury he sustained playing soccer with his friend.

Without Rory McIlroy, the focus shifts to current Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth. He's the hottest golfer in the PGA season with 2 major titles and 3 PGA Tour event victories (Hero World Challenge, Valspar Championship and John Deere Classic). He is on target to win his 3rd major title in a row with Rory McIlroy's absence.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Jordan Spieth as the favorite to win the Open Championship. Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler and Justin Rose are among his strongest challengers in the tournament.
