PGA Tour:2011 U.S. Open ChampionshipJune 15, 2010 by Mark Jerbs

On Thursday, the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland will host the 2011 US Open. The Blue Course of the Congressional Country Club is considered among the best 100 golf courses in the United States.

There would be scattered clouds and wind blowing 13mph from the northwest side of the course during the opening round. This weather forecast is ideal in playing a major PGA tournament.

Tiger Woods won't play in the US Open as he continues to recuperate from his knee and Achilles injuries he suffered from the Masters. However, Graeme McDowell will play to defend his US Open title he won last year.

The opening trios in the first round are Matt Kuchar, Paul Casey and KJ Choi which is scheduled to start at 7:44AM ET. Next in line are Graeme McDowell, Peter Uihlein and Louis Oosthuizen. Other notable golfers that will start in the morning are Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Rory McIlroy as the favorite to win the 2011 US Open. However, Phil Mickelson, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Steve Stricker would be his primary competitors during the whole tournament.
