Tiger on a hot streak for the season's final major championshipAugust 12, 2009 by Marc Jerbs

Tiger Woods is on a hot streak after missing the cut in the last British Open. He won the Buick Open and the Bridgestone Invitational back-to-back following his demise at the British Open. Usually, Woods will play only one tournament in between the British Open and the PGA Championship. But he decided to take two on his schedule, won both of them and gave defending PGA Championship champ Padraig Harrington a glimpse on what he should expect at the PGA Championship on Thursday.

I think Woods decided to add another tournament on his schedule because he wants to improve his club swing and putting which went awry in the British Open. Plus, this is his last chance to win a major for the year which would add to another title in his illustrious PGA Tour career.

Woods is definitely a sure bet at the PGA Championship but there are other players lurking at his back.

PGA Champ Padraig Harrington showed he is back in his form after his superb showing at Firestone last week. Phil Mickelson would be a sentimental favorite since he's playing for his wife and mother who are both recovering from breast cancer surgery. Stewart Cink is also a possible threat to Tiger's plan; he's done well after winning the British Open this year.

If it's a major tournament, expect Tiger Woods as the heavy favorite among the gambling aficionados. Tiger brings his A-game during this time of the year and he has 14 major titles to prove it.
